Fifth Avenue Landing Celebrates Dawn’s One Year Anniversary As Dockmaster

(San Diego, Calif, March 03, 2021): Dawn Stofberg has approached her one-year anniversary as Dockmaster at Fifth Avenue Landing (FAL), a boutique superyacht marina in Downtown San Diego.

“Dawn brings a high level of passion, knowledge, quality and class to her position as dockmaster. She leaves a lasting impact with her positive and uplifting spirit. This past year, COVID-19 brought many obstacles for the company, but Dawn handled them with such grace and poise. It has been an honor to have her onboard.” said Todd Roberts, president of Marine Group Boat Works (MGBW) and Fifth Avenue Landing.

Stofberg carries out many operations at FAL including slip reservations, marketing and crew relations. Stofberg’s extensive experience as a chief stewardess on various prominent superyachts provided her a unique perspective on the industry.

“After 12 years working in the yachting industry, I had finally made the decision to retire and work landside. I reached out to MGBW- a shipyard that I had visited many times on multiple vessels – and heard that the Dockmaster position was available. I jumped at the opportunity and am so glad I did. I love still being able to work within the maritime industry but from a land-based position.”

Her hands-on experience with vessels of all sizes is just one of many reasons why FAL is so fortunate to have her on board. Her knowledge and expertise, along with her vibrant personality make her the perfect fit for her position as dockmaster. Stofberg goes above and beyond with her duties to ensure customers receive a seamless and memorable experience.

“I worked in the yachting industry for 12 years aboard private and charter yachts ranging from 30-70 meters. I spent the first six years working my way up to Chief Stewardess and spent the last six years as Chef after completing a culinary program through the New England Culinary Institute. Prior to yachting, I had six years of experience in customer service in various industries throughout Southern California.”

Stofberg not only manages the Superyacht Sales division, but she also oversees The Good Stew program for MGBW. The program is a complimentary concierge service that assists crew in seeking resources, hosting events and providing crew placement. The program also provides specialty items such as crew uniforms and interior products like Miele and Kanberra. The Good Stew program is essential for traveling crew members and maintains an attentive service that can sometimes be lost when traveling to new places.

“I look forward to cultivating relationships within both the San Diego maritime community and the greater yachting community at large. I was raised here, this is my hometown, and I am excited to help expand the Pacific Coast’s yachting scene and look forward to assisting captains and crew in the years to come.”

Stofberg will continue to manage The Good Stew program. She works out of the Fifth Avenue Landing marina office on 600 Convention Way, San Diego, CA 92101.
