Prominent Motoryachts Spend Summer Months at Marine Group Boat Works

BANDIDO, TULLY, BIG EAGLE Docked for maintenance and repairs

(Chula Vista, Calif., Aug. 24, 2008): In addition to a contract with Perini Navi Sailing Yacht MORNING GLORY, Marine Group Boat Works has also welcomed three motoryachts to its yard this summer: BANDIDO, TULLY and BIG EAGLE.

In the process of a series of refits, BANDIDO—belonging to a prominent businessman in California’s Inland Empire—spent the last five months at The Marine Group. The Marine Group serviced the vessel to provide an additional four feet to the swim step bringing the total length of the vessel from 137-feet to 141-feet and an additional seven feet to the upper deck. The Marine Group also provided fiber glass and painting services, which includes a detailed process of masking, applying regular, high-build and epoxy finish primers; sanding; spraying top coat and non-skid finish, as needed, and complete detailing. BANDIDO was launched back into the water in late July and headed north to Newport Beach, Calif. This will have been her third drydock at The Marine Group in the last 18 months. BANDIDO is scheduled to return in for additional work.

TULLY is a 130-foot vessel that is currently undergoing an extensive renovation. The renovation will consist of new paint for the entire vessel, teak decking on the top and lower decks, new lighting, a mechanical refit and interior reconstruction, new cabinets and commercial-grade vinyl flooring in the new galley. TULLY is scheduled to be completed late fall.

BIG EAGLE is a 172-foot superyacht formerly owned by Anheuser-Busch. It is most noted for having one of the few women captains in the world – native San Diegan Christiana Virgilio. This major project includes a complete engine repower with the installation of new ones. The project is to be completed this fall.
