San Diego Shipyard Builds Strong Niche for Maintaining Perini Navi Superyachts
(Chula Vista, Calif., Apr. 15, 2008): Marine Group Boat Works is pleased to welcome two Perini Navi yachts: TAMSEN, the third largest and one of the newest yachts among the Perini Navi fleet, and MORNING GLORY, a 158-foot yacht launched in 1993.
TAMSEN, a 171-foot, long-distance ocean cruising vessel, is scheduled to arrive at The Marine Group shipyard in late April. The Marine Group is providing the TAMSEN with routine maintenance as part of the warranty between the vessel’s prominent owner and Perini Navi, the famed Italian shipyard and the only in the world to design, develop and build its own sailing yachts.
Scheduled to arrive after the TAMSEN is MORNING GLORY. After navigating the globe for over 10 years, MORNING GLORY will spend the next six months at The Marine Group to be restored to its original, pristine condition. This large scale project includes repowering and rebuilding the main engines, installing brand new generators, re-plumbing, laying down new teakwood floors and decks and re-rigging the masts.
The arrival of MORNING GLORY and TAMSEN will mark The Marine Group’s third Perini Navi project within the last five months. The first Perini Navi yacht that the shipyard serviced was ANDROMEDA LA DEA, a 154-foot yacht famed for taking on the “perfect storm.”

Other notable superyachts currently at the shipyard include ROYAL EAGLE, SIN OR SWIM, BIG EAGLE and BANDITO, which can be seen at The Marine Group from the San Diego Bay and Interstate 5.
