MGBW E-News 4/7/25: Gaylord Resort Opening & Personnel Making Waves!
Gear Up for The Gaylord Opening!
The long-awaited opening of the Gaylord Pacific Resort & Convention Center is quickly approaching! Prior to the hotel’s soft opening on May 15th, Marina Parkway, H Street and G Street are scheduled to be reopened to the public.
MGBW is currently waiting for the Port of San Diego to provide directional signage that will guide visitors to our location. We’ll keep you updated as we find out more info!

New Main Entrance Coming Soon!
As MGBW’s fenceline project nears completion in May, so will the construction of our new Main Entrance. To enhance security, streamline the check-in process and meet evolving Navy requirements, this new entrance will feature automated road barriers, a security station and cutting-edge technology to check people in through a badge system.
In preparation for that, all MGBW employees should remember to have your employee badges on you when you come to work. The policy will be enforced starting Monday, April 14.

Personnel Making Waves

Karen Gutierrez, Weld Shop Toolroom Clerk
Karen began her journey with MGBW In 2022 when she joined us as our Weld Shop Toolroom Clerk under Purchasing Supervisor, Nino Zizzo. Since September, she’s been busy assisting Alex Copley in Accounts Payable. After missing the action in the weld shop, she reapplied to take on her original role in Purchasing. Although the Accounting Department will miss her, Karen returns to the Weld Shop Tool Room this week and is looking forward supporting the structural and new construction team once again. Excited to have you back in the yard, Karen!
Liana Postel, Accounts Payable Clerk
Liana’s role at MGBW has been of utmost importance since she came on board in 2022, working as one of our two Payroll Clerks in HR. She recently expressed her interest in the field of accounting and will be taking over the Accounts Payable role this week as Karen transitions back to the toolroom. Liana is enthusiastic about learning new aspects of the company, and we can’t wait to see what she accomplishes!
