New Fish in the Sea: James Romero

As we welcome a variety of new projects this year, we also welcome New Construction Project Manager, James Romero. His strong background in both maritime and engineering will be heavily applied to his role in overseeing the installation and management of equipment in boats under new construction for both Navy and commercial clients. James previously for various maritime companies in San Francisco, specializing in construction of steel and aluminum vessels and overseeing high-level electronic and electrical design and installation.

Originally from the Bronx, NY, James applies his engineering knowledge to build his own computers and e-bikes in his spare time. He also enjoys the culinary arts, and when he’s not cooking, he loves checking out local Mexican and Indian eateries.

James will work closely with Christian Canlas under Andy Nottberg in the New Construction office. Please find his contact info below, and wish him a warm welcome when you see him!

Going the Distance: Jose Hernandez!

Pipefitter Jose Hernandez shared some fun photos from the recent Carlsbad 5000 5K, where he raced among friends on a gorgeous oceanfront course along Pacific Coast Highway 101 on April 6th. The Carlsbad 5000 is a full day of running. This iconic event features individual 5K road races for all ages & abilities, including Men’s & Women’s Masters Divisions (40 & Older).

Jose has been with MGBW for four years, and he surprises us each day with the things he can do!  We truly admire his dedication in and out of the shipyard. Go Jose!
