Marine Group Boat Works Wins Golden Gate Bid #2020-F-047

(Chula Vista, Calif., January 12, 2021)

The Golden Gate Bridge and Highway and Transportation District held a committee meeting on October 22, 2020 in which they presented Marine Group Boat Works as their staff recommendation for IFB No. 2020 F-047.

The IFB for the project Ferry Fleet Scheduled Drydocking and Capital Improvements was announced on August 7, 2020 in response to a biennial hull inspection requested by the US Coast Guard on four district vessels:

    • M/V Del Norte
    • M/V Mendocino
    • M/V Golden Gate
    • M/V Napa

The inspection requires the vessels to be dry docked, during which the time they will also have maintenance work done.

Marine Group Boat Works submitted a bid of $4,597,003 on September 18, 2020, which was approved based on price fairness and responsiveness to the bid specifications. The awarded contract for the four vessels will be split into two projects:

    • Capital Improvements for Ferry Fleet (Project #2040)
    • FY21 Ferry Vessel Rehab (Project #2140)

M/V Mendocino will receive improvements under Project #2040, while M/V Del Norte, M/V Golden Gate, and M/V Napa will undergo rehab through Project #2140.
