Marine Group Boat Works Celebrates Lead Marine Electrician Ed Myrseth’s 30th Anniversary with the Company

(Chula Vista, Calif., June 24, 2009): Marine Group Boat Works, a full-service boat and superyacht repair facility along the San Diego Bay honors Ed Myrseth, its lead marine electrician, for his 30 years of dedicated service to the company and the marine industry.

“After thirty years, Ed has become part of the Marine Group Boat Works legacy,” says Vice President Todd Roberts. “You won’t find a more knowledgeable marine electrician in town. We’re proud and privileged to have him on our team.”

Myrseth was influenced to join the marine industry by his father who was a fisherman. He undertook a four-year apprenticeship with San Diego Marine Construction in 1972. Myrseth worked for Marine Group Boat Works in 1979 when the company was originally Southwest Marine. He continued his employment during its transition from Southwest Marine to South Bay Boatyard to what it is today. July 9, 2009 marks Myseth’s 30th anniversary with the newly renovated Marine Group Boat Works, one of San Diego’s fastest growing companies.

Myrseth’s love for his job stems from a required sense of creativity and innovation. “There’s no instruction manual for a lot of the things I do. I get to figure it out on my own, and it’s always rewarding each time I find the solution,” says Myrseth.

As lead electrician, Myrseth manages a specialized team of marine electricians. His responsibilities also include both electrical and mechanical work on all types of boats including private, commercial and military vessels. Some of the projects he has worked on include troubleshooting and repairing electrical work on superyachts RONIN, BIG EAGLE, ORION, BOSSY BOOTS, TALISMAN, DUMB LUCK, and TULLY.

When asked what he liked best about his work, Myrseth said, “Two things. One, the people I work with because we all get along real well, and its fun. And two, yearly holiday parties. Ironically, the best ones haven’t always been on a boat.”
