Emergency Procedures

Team,

We’ve stressed the importance of wearing PPE and always being safe rather than sorry. However, I’d like to take this time to reiterate what you should do in case of a medical emergency.

LIFE-THREATENING EMERGENCY / INJURY:

  1. Anyone can call 9-1-1.  NOTE:  DO NOT MOVE THE PATIENT UNLESS IT IS FOR THEIR SAFETY AND IS SAFE TO DO SO
  2. Notify immediately Todd or Eric or Laura or Delia or Schmoke or Colin – whoever is the easiest/quickest.
  3. Delegate someone to stand on the street to open the gates and direct the first responders to the patient/scene.
  4. Brief EHS of the incident. If EHS is unavailable, then any Department Manager should be briefed.
  5. EHS, Dept Manager or Trade Supervisor should remain with the patient/on the scene until first responders arrive while notifying HR (or CFO if HR is unavailable).
  6. HR with support of Executive Team will come up with further course of action as needed from there.

MAJOR/SERIOUS INJURY:

  1. Anyone can report an injury to EHS.  If EHS is unavailable, then notify Todd or Eric or Laura or Delia or Schmoke or Dept Manager – whoever is the easiest/quickest.  NOTE:  DO NOT MOVE THE PATIENT UNLESS IT IS FOR THEIR SAFETY AND IS SAFE TO DO SO
  2. EHS/Dept Manager should perform an assessment of the patient/incident.
    1. NOTE: The purpose is to assess the needs of the patient and ultimately determine if an ambulance needs to be called (See Life Threatening Emergency/Injury Above.  OR If patient is stable enough to take in-house transportation to a clinic. Continue to next step below.
  3. EHS to contact HR (or CFO if HR is unavailable) to a) Report the incident and b) Arrange for transportation if needed.
  4. HR with support of Executive Team will come up with further course of action as needed from there.
