Water Advisory for Chula Vista and Imperial Beach

San Diego (August 24, 2023) – California American Water today issued an “Advisory to Boil Water” for customers that reside in the city of Imperial Beach. Coronado customers (south of Fiddlers Cove) and customers in portions of San Diego and Chula Vista due to positive E. Coli results found in tap water. It is advised to use boiled tap water or bottled water for drinking and cooking purposes as a safety precaution.

How this affects MGBW:

From (8/25/23) to (8/27/23)

  • Do not drink water from the tap. Tap water in all restrooms is safe for washing your hands but not to drink.
  • Water dispenser in the mechanics shop next to the water tanks, main office galley coffee machine & main office galley water dispenser is safe to drink. All safe units are sourced from two 80-gallon tanks filled with Palomar spring water found in the mechanics shop. The company that services the tanks refills them bi-weekly.
  • Bottled water will be provided for all trades to remedy this issue. If you need new cases of water, please reach out to facilities.
